My artwork is a large 7 by 5 inch piece of cake. It is constructed of two rectangular walls, connected by a square, and all laying on top of a triangle. Spreading across the top of the cake is a human. The person is supposed to represent relaxation due to the idiom "piece of cake." The elements of design that I used were shape, unity, and balance. The cake is a geometric figure that is evenly put together. It is evenly balanced and everything is symmetrical, Two hands are hanging over the top of the cake and two legs are hanging over the ends. The person is positioned in the middle of the cake evenly. This cake is made after the idiom "piece of cake" which means that something is simple to accomplish. While making this, I thought of my previous years of school and how it was never extremely difficult for me. Now that I am in junior year, this idiom doesn't apply to school for me anymore. My piece reflects my past couple years and how relaxing it was up until this year. Overall, I don't like my piece as much as I thought I would. I liked my idea, however, it was hard to execute it when it came to creating the person. I struggled making the cake and had to re-do the whole process, but at the end I finally liked it.
