Lars van de Goor is a photographer born in the Netherlands, coming from a Dutch background. His first passion was music. Later in life he chose to take on the hobby of photography, which soon became more than a hobby. His inspiration for photography is the mystery of light and nature. Because he was raised on a houseboat in the middle of a farm, beauty surrounded him as he grew up. In 2016, van de Goor won the landscape section of the Hasselblad Masters, a big photography competition. He uses his images to inspire people to get outside and into nature.
Lars van de Goor likes to photograph nature. He uses light and leading lines to make the pictures seem magical. Many of the images have paths that lead further back in the photo. In his pictures there is the reminder that nature is all around us. His images remind us of how beautiful the earth can be. Van de Goor sometimes uses editing techniques to make the pictures look fake or painted. Lars van de Goor refers to his style of photography as dreamy.
The dutch photographer wants the people living on this earth to realize the importance of beauty and nature. Many people living in this era spend too much time looking at screens to realize the beauty surrounding them. He photographs the native Gelderland trees and forests around him to show the culture of his nation. Lars van de Goor uses the bright natural light and energy to depict the power of the Gelderland trees. van de Goor wants people to understand that we have this beauty of the planet right now, but if we keep living the way we are, that beauty could go away.
Lars van de Goor influences me and probably many others with his work. From him I have learned that I need to appreciate our world before it is too late. Sometimes, we just need to go outside, take a deep breath, and look around us. In doing so, all the things we didn't notice before will become clear again. I hope one day to take photos as beautiful as the ones of Lars van de Goor. I hope to go where he's gone and live experiences similar to his and take some of my own photos. Just from one picture, I can tell these forests are naturally stunning.
The first image I took is from one of the trees in my backyard. Van de Goor's image is taken more in open space. The one thing that is a major difference between the two photos is van de Goor's has light beams coming from behind the tree, where mine doesn't. I tried to change the hue of the picture to more red/yellow because the sunlight gives that effect on Van de Goor's image, but without the sun it is hard. I could have waited to take a pic of the tree on a day where the sun hit the trees like in Van de Goor's, but it doesn't happen very often.
In the second image I used leading lines to create a cool image. The major difference between mine and Van de Goor's images is that his was taken at sunset, so the sky above the trees are orange. Mine was taken on a clear day, so I didn't get the cool orange skies. To get a picture with the sky that beautiful is pretty rare in the winter. His picture looks like it was taken in the fall, hence the trees. The cool part about these images is that they're taken from a different point of view than most images, so you get a different look than usual. Since I couldn't make the leaves on the trees disappear to make it more like Van de Goor's image, I used brightness/ contrast to make the trees more green and really stand out.
In the third image, I took it on my dirt road. Van de Goor's actually looks like it was taken in a place very similar to mine. Unfortunately, his picture looks to be taken in the fall. Having his taken in the fall makes a better picture because of the color of the leaves. Since mine was taken in the winter, the trees have no leaves making it a lesser image. Van dee Goor's also seems to be taken on a foggy day, later in the afternoon where mine was taken in the morning. To make the image stand out more, I used brightness/ contrast and vibrance to make the road and trees stand out more in color.

My imagesLast of WinterThese are the trees that live in my backyard. The bigger one in the back has always been there, but the smaller one in the front was planted when we first moved to my house. On summer days when the sun hits the trees just right it creates the coolest effect. The trees photographed are part of my front-yard woods. It is a small section of woods, but many memories lie within it.
Below the treesThis picture is taken from beneath what I like to call, the connecting woods. It is the biggest section of woods on our street and many house have it in their backyard. They're positioned at my house alongside the driveway and basketball hoop. Whenever playing basketball, the ball always ends up going into there at some point and we always have to run it. It is a scary place too because of the stories my brothers have told me.
Long Way DownThis photo was taken on the road I drive on everyday. It is possibly the worst road you'll ever drive on. It is full of potholes and there is no way of missing them. It is almost like a roller coaster when going through them. The most annoying part is how long it takes to get down my road. When going over the potholes everyone makes sure to go extremely slow so they don't ruin their tires.
